US visa photo size requirements

The US visa (DS-160) photo must be square, between 600×600 and 1200×1200 pixels, in colour, under 240 KB, on a white or off-white background.

Use a plain white or light-coloured background.
Face the camera straight on, with even light and no shadows on your face.
Keep your head and the top of your shoulders in the frame, with a little space above your head.
Don’t wear a cap or dark glasses, and don’t use beauty filters.
Use a recent photo. Many forms reject photos older than 3–6 months.
